The Mercedes Benz MB W245 is a compact van by Mercedes Benz. It is sold under the name B-Class . It was marketed as Sports Tourer from mid-2005 to mid-2011, as well as the R-Class. According to the manufacturer, the B-Class combines the advantages of different vehicle concepts.
Like the Mercedes Benz A-Class, the B-Class is built according to the sandwich construction and has front-wheel drive . The engine and transmission are partly located in front of and partly below the passenger compartment, which saves space and ensures safety. In a frontal impact, the engine and transmission are pushed under the passenger compartment.
Despite its compact size, the B-Class offers five seats or the space of larger saloons and station wagons. The volume of 2,245 liters is larger in spite of smaller exterior than, for example, the Opel Zafira and VW Touran.

The model is internally referred to as T245.

On March 14, 2008, a revised version of the W245 was announced. The main focus of this facelift was on environmental friendliness, cost-effectiveness and comfort. Recognizable the car is on a "split" bumper, similar to the E-Class (W211).

The Mercedes Benz MB W242 / W246 is the successor model.

The Mercedes Benz MB W246 is a compact van by Mercedes Benz. The pan-European market launch took place on 19 November 2011 and represents the second generation of the B-Class whereby the W245 was replaced.
The basic shape of the body has been retained, but it has more beads and edges. At the front the headlamps have been magnified. They are now also available with light-emitting diodes. The cowl mask is no longer optically integrated into the bonnet, but designed separately, reminiscent of the CLS-Class (W218). Moreover, if desired, LED daytime-running-lights are placed in the lateral inlets of the front sills. In the side view, the back to each other extending beads fall on the flanks. At the rear, the taillights, which are also revised on the basis of the CLS-Class, are new.
The interior has been heavily modified. The W246 gets in his top version the leather-clad three-spoke aluminum double-strut steering wheel from the CLS-Class. Also new is the instrument cluster, with a central 11,4cm large multifunction display and two analogue round instruments, each containing another small round instrument. A large ornamental element is now attached to the instrument panel. The shift lever is removed on models with the dual-clutch gearbox, the handbrake on all models is replaced by an electric parking brake so that it is replaced by two stoppers. The operation of the radio and navigation system takes place via a rotary and push button located in front of the center armrest.

The electric version of the B-Class ( W242 ), called "Electric Drive", was available between November 2014 and August 2017 in Germany.

On November 22, 2014, the revised version of the B-Class was launched. With facelifting at the end of 2014, the B-Class received slightly revised front and rear bumpers. Optionally, full LED headlamps are now available. The LED daytime running lights emanate from the side lintels of the front sills into the headlights.
