Mercedes Benz MB W639 V-Class

Predecessor W638 V-Class
Successor W447 V-Class

The Mercedes Benz MB W639 was developed as a transporter variant (minibus, sales name "Vito") and van variant (van, sales name "Viano") of Mercedes Benz. It is available with two different wheelbases each, three lengths and two roof heights each. He replaces the predecessor W638. Unlike the W638, the W639 has a rear-wheel drive. The empty weight is given as 1790 to 2190 kg. In 2005, the variant Vito was voted Van of the Year.

The Vito, like its predecessor, is available in the following versions:

  • Van with up to three seats and a large cargo space
  • Mixto with up to six seats in two rows of seats and a smaller load compartment
  • Combi with up to nine seats

The Viano as a car is available in the four trim levels Trend, Fun, Ambiance and Avantgarde. Since September 2007, the Viano is also offered in the upscale equipment variant X-Clusive with:

  • modified bumpers front and rear,
  • Side skirts,
  • 18 inch wheels and
  • a chrome exhaust cover.

Seat coverings in Alcantara are also available in pebble or anthracite with the X-Clusive line. The X-Clusive was replaced in 2011 by the Viano Avantgarde Edition 125.

On October 23, 2010, a facelift of the two versions was introduced. In addition to the engines, the external optics on the lighting system and the radiator grille were changed. The headlamps received a lowered LED strip, which was similarly introduced in the facelift of the M-Class 2008.

  • W639 stands for the normal version
  • V639 stands for the long version

  • On January 31, 2014, the successor to the V639 was introduced.
This is again marketed as a V-Class and internally referred to as W447
